After a two-day deadlock over seat sharing, DMK and Congress on Monday reopened channels of communication. The rapprochement came after Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee spoke to DMK leader M Karunanidhi on Monday twice through phone. Pranab, who called DMK leader TR Baalu's mobile phone to talk to Karunanidhi, sought some more time to set things right. Karunanidhi agreed to put on hold the resignations of his ministers, but maintained that the Congress could not be given more than the 60 allotted seats.
